SE3K Survivors Experience 3000

Space Invaders

Taito, Sega · 1985

Taito's 1978 cabinet, the game that emptied Japan's hundred-yen coins and started the arcade industry. A row of guns against a descending grid of aliens, four bunkers that erode as they absorb fire, and the detail everyone remembers without noticing: the aliens speed up as they are destroyed, because the machine had fewer of them left to draw.
